Masia Cabellut: The Complete Guide to a Vineyard Estate Wedding Near Barcelona

Masia Cabellut surrounded by vineyards and pine hills in the Baix Penedès, near Barcelona

Masia Cabellut is a white masia and vineyard estate in its own private valley in the Baix Penedès, about an hour south of Barcelona and half an hour from Sitges, that you rent in full for a whole wedding weekend, for up to 200 guests.

I visited Masia Cabellut in April 2025 and photographed the estate into the evening light, and this is the guide I would want before booking a place like this: where it really is, every space, the real numbers, and how the whole-estate weekend model changes the way you plan.

Still comparing venues? I also keep a guide to the best wedding venues in Spain, and one to the best wedding venues near Barcelona.

Where Is Masia Cabellut and What Makes It So Special?

Masia Cabellut sits above the village of Masllorenç, in the Baix Penedès, in the province of Tarragona, about fifty kilometres and an hour south of Barcelona, half an hour from Sitges and twenty-five minutes from the coast.

One thing to get right from the start: the estate is often described as being near Barcelona, and it is, but it is not in the city or its province. It is in the Penedès wine country, a private valley of vineyards, olive and almond groves and pine forest, with no neighbours in sight. That seclusion is the whole point, and it is why the light and the quiet feel the way they do.

The estate was founded in 1745, and the owners trace the vineyard back further still. The house you see today is a careful white, minimalist restoration of that old masia, all whitewashed walls, timber shutters, stone and terracotta, closer in feel to a Mediterranean villa than to a rustic Catalan farmhouse. You can see it all on the venue’s own website.

What Wedding Spaces Does Masia Cabellut Offer?

Masia Cabellut offers several outdoor ceremony spots across the valley, a private courtyard with a pool, a covered pergola and indoor ballroom for the party, a 300 square metre party patio, cypress gardens and a small chapel nearby.

Because you have the whole 30 hectare estate to yourselves, the spaces are less a fixed floor plan and more a set of scenes you move between over the day. Here is how each one works.

The Ceremony Spots: The Valley, the Vineyard and the Gardens

The ceremony happens outdoors, and you choose the setting: the Valley View, the vineyard itself, the dry Mediterranean gardens, the almond grove or the forest. Each one puts the couple against a different piece of the estate.

The vineyard and the valley are the frames most couples come for, especially in the last light of the day when the rows glow and the hills go soft behind you. If you want a religious service, there is also a small chapel, the Ermita de Santa Cristina, which I come back to below.

The Private Courtyard and the Pool

At the heart of the masia is a private courtyard built around a pool, wrapped in whitewashed walls and stone arches, with palms and a long reflecting basin set into patterned tile.

It is the most photogenic corner of the whole estate, and it works beautifully for the cocktail hour: guests drift between the arches and the water while the white walls hold the warm evening light. It feels more like a private villa than an events space, which is exactly the appeal.

The Pergola, the Ballroom and the Party Patio

For the party you have options. The Pergola is the covered outdoor space for the dinner and dancing, with a roof that can close for any season. There is an indoor ballroom for weather or for a later, more intimate feel, and a 300 square metre party patio, an amphitheatre-style outdoor space that seats up to 200 for dinner.

A 300 square metre tent is included, so a wet forecast is never a crisis. Ask the venue how they would set your dinner and dancing for your date and guest count, because with this much space there is more than one good answer.

The Cypress Gardens and the Forest

Between the buildings the estate is landscaped: avenues of cypress over crazy-paved stone paths, dry Mediterranean gardens, olive and almond trees, and 3,000 square metres of planted grounds that open into the vineyards and the pine forest.

These are the spaces that make the estate feel designed rather than just pretty. The cypress avenues are made for a portrait walk, and the forest and the almond grove give you quieter corners away from the party.

The Ermita de Santa Cristina

For a religious ceremony there is a small chapel, the Ermita de Santa Cristina, near the estate, so a church service and a vineyard reception can happen the same day without a drive between them.

It is a rare thing to have both on one private estate. If a church wedding matters to your families, this solves a logistics problem that catches a lot of couples out at rural venues. Confirm the details and any paperwork with the venue when you visit.

How Many Guests Can Masia Cabellut Host?

Masia Cabellut hosts up to 200 guests for both the ceremony and the dinner, and there is no real minimum, so it works for an intimate group or a full celebration. It only ever hosts one wedding at a time.

Here is what the venue publishes:

  • Ceremony and dinner: up to 200 guests
  • Party patio (amphitheatre): up to 200 seated for dinner
  • Minimum: none set, from an intimate group upward
  • Exclusivity: one wedding a day, the whole 30 hectare estate is yours

Where these figures come from: the capacities are the venue’s own, from its website and listings in 2026. A separate standing or cocktail maximum is not published, so if your list is near 200, ask the events team to confirm the seated setup for your date.

What Is the Catering Like at Masia Cabellut?

Catering at Masia Cabellut is not exclusive: you choose your own caterer or private chef, and the venue gives you a list of trusted suppliers to work from. There is a catering kitchen on site, and you can bring your own cake with no surcharge.

This is a real advantage. Free choice of caterer is where you shape both the budget and the food, and it lets you bring a chef who fits your style rather than accepting a single in-house menu. The estate makes its own wine and olive oil, so ask about serving the Cabellut wine at your dinner, poured a few hundred metres from where it is grown.

What Is Included in a Masia Cabellut Wedding?

A Masia Cabellut wedding is a whole-estate, multi-day hire. You get the entire 30 hectare property to yourselves, the house with its seven bedrooms, the gardens, the pool, the ceremony and party spaces and the tent, usually for a minimum two-night stay.

  • The whole estate in full exclusivity, one wedding at a time
  • Seven en-suite bedrooms that sleep fourteen to sixteen, including a master suite with vineyard views
  • Ceremony spaces, courtyard, pool, pergola, ballroom, party patio and a 300 square metre tent
  • Ample parking, step-free access, and no music curfew, since there are no neighbours

Ask them to confirm three things in writing: exactly how many nights are included, whether VAT is included in the price, and whether the on-site chapel can host a legally binding ceremony or only a symbolic one.

What Are My Insider Tips for a Masia Cabellut Wedding?

My biggest tip for Masia Cabellut is to treat it as a weekend, not a day: because you have the whole estate and its bedrooms, the wedding works best spread across a welcome night, the day itself and a slow morning after.

Plan the day around the vineyard sunset. This estate gives its best in the last hour of light, when the white walls turn warm and the rows of vines glow. Hold the ceremony late enough that the cocktail hour and portraits fall into that window.

Keep the decor minimal. This is a white villa in a green valley. It looks its best with very little added, so let the architecture and the vineyard be the design and spend your budget on food, wine and light.

Plan for sun and heat. White walls and open gardens mean strong midday light in summer. Offer shade at the cocktail, water at the ceremony, and lean on the covered pergola and the courtyard.

Fill the seven bedrooms with the people who matter. Keep them for the two of you and your closest family, and use the two-night stay for a proper welcome dinner the night before.

Use the no-curfew rule. With no neighbours, the party can run as late as you want, so plan the night’s energy around that instead of a hard stop.

Where Do Wedding Guests Stay at Masia Cabellut?

Masia Cabellut has seven en-suite bedrooms on site, sleeping fourteen to sixteen, so your closest people stay on the estate and everyone else stays nearby in Sitges, Vilafranca del Penedès or El Vendrell, all about half an hour away.

That split works well: the wedding party wakes up on the estate, and guests turn the wedding into a weekend in the Penedès wine country or on the coast at Sitges. Book a hotel block early for peak summer dates, and plan a shuttle at the end of the night, because the estate sits up a country road with no taxis passing by.

What Is a Wedding Weekend at Masia Cabellut Like?

A wedding at Masia Cabellut is a private weekend on your own estate. You arrive the day before, settle into the house, and often gather your closest guests for a welcome dinner in the courtyard or by the pool.

On the day, the ceremony sits out in the vineyard or the gardens, the cocktail hour moves to the courtyard and the pool, and the dinner and party run under the pergola or out on the amphitheatre patio, with no curfew to cut the night short. The morning after, you are still there, for a slow breakfast among the vines before anyone has to leave.

That is the real difference from a one-day venue: at Masia Cabellut the wedding has room to breathe, and the estate is yours for all of it.

What Should Your Masia Cabellut Photographer Know?

A photographer at Masia Cabellut is working with a lot of white and a lot of sun, and the estate rewards you for waiting for the right light rather than fighting the middle of the day.

At midday the whitewashed walls bounce hard, bright light. In the late afternoon everything changes: the walls turn golden, the vineyard and the cypress avenues catch the low sun, the courtyard reflecting pool doubles the light, and at blue hour the lit facade against the dark valley is one of the best frames on the whole estate. Those are the pictures worth building your timeline around.

Plan the portraits for the last hour of light, in the vineyard and along the cypress paths, and keep a few minutes after sunset for the courtyard and the facade. This is the kind of estate where a wedding photographer used to shooting near Barcelona, who already knows how the white masia and the valley behave, makes a real difference.
