Mas de Sant Lleí: The Complete Guide to a Forest Wedding Near Barcelona
Written by Jordi Dalmau, Spain destination wedding photographer. Last update September 2026
Mas de Sant Lleí is a forty hectare estate in Vilanova del Vallès, about twenty minutes from Barcelona, with four ceremony settings, gardens around a lake and banquet halls named after nine centuries of local history.
I photographed Mireia and Pol’s wedding here in July 2026, and this is the guide I wish couples had before booking: every space, what the price includes, and the story behind each room’s name.
Still comparing venues? I also keep a guide to the best wedding venues near Barcelona, and a bigger one to the best wedding venues in Spain.
Where Is Mas de Sant Lleí and What Makes It So Special?
Mas de Sant Lleí is a forty hectare estate in Vilanova del Vallès, in the Vallès Oriental, about fifteen to twenty kilometres north of Barcelona and a few minutes from Granollers, just off the AP-7 at exit 13.
The estate has been documented since the twelfth century, and the manor you see today is a grand country house built between the seventeenth and twentieth centuries around an older farmhouse, listed in the Catalan heritage inventory as La Casa Alta. So when the venue talks about centuries of history, the land is real, even if the current building is later than the legends suggest.
The detail nobody tells you is the naming. The rooms carry the saints of the village itself. The Sant Esteve hall and the Santa Quiteria room take the two patrons of the local parish, documented since 1006. The Santa Justa hall is named after the Font de Santa Justa, a 1673 spring that still runs in the garden. And Sant Lleí is the patron saint the whole village celebrates every August. You can see every space on the venue’s own website, and the farmhouse is catalogued in the Catalan architectural inventory.
What Wedding Spaces Does Mas de Sant Lleí Offer?
Mas de Sant Lleí offers four ceremony settings, two connected banquet halls named Sant Esteve and Santa Justa, an outdoor banquet under the holm oaks of the Bosque de las Encinas, and landscaped gardens with a lake and long terraces.
Here is how each one works on the day, because at this estate the choice of space shapes the light, and the light shapes your timeline.
Four Places to Say I Do
You can say I do in four places at Mas de Sant Lleí: the Terraza de los Magnolios, the Patio de la Masía, the Bosque Nupcial and Los Rosales. The venue sets up the ceremony for you, so your only job is choosing the place.
Mireia and Pol married on the Terraza de los Magnolios, with the whole crowd seated in the late afternoon light, and it was the right call for a July wedding. Each setting has a very different character, from the open terrace to the wooded Bosque Nupcial, so visit them at the time of day your ceremony will be and choose with the light in mind.
Sant Esteve and Santa Justa: The Banquet Halls
The banquet lives in two connected halls, Sant Esteve and Santa Justa, which can be opened together for a large wedding. They are big, bright rooms rather than a rustic barn, which is worth knowing when you plan your florals and lighting: at this scale a few dramatic installations read better than a lot of small ones.
Two smaller rooms, the Masia and Santa Quiteria salons, work for a more intimate dinner or a children’s space.
The Terraces, Gardens and the Lake
Around the halls sit the gardens: wide grounds with mature trees, an artificial lake and long terraces where the cocktail hour spreads out. This is the estate’s showpiece and the reason the aerial view matters so much here.
The lake and the old trees give you a cocktail hour that never feels crowded, and portraits at golden hour by the water that most Barcelona venues simply cannot offer.
The Bosque de las Encinas: An Outdoor Banquet
For an outdoor dinner, the venue offers the Bosque de las Encinas, a holm oak wood where the banquet is set under the trees. It is not a ceremony space, but as a setting for a long summer dinner it is hard to beat.
Whatever you choose, ask the team for the wet-weather plan for both the ceremony and the dinner, so you walk in on the day knowing the rain version already works.
The Couple’s Dressing Room
Mas de Sant Lleí has a dedicated couple’s dressing room on the estate, so you get ready on site rather than driving in from a hotel on the morning of the wedding.
There is no accommodation at the estate, so most couples arrive in the morning and use the dressing room to change and finish getting ready before the ceremony. It keeps the start of the day calm and close to where everything else will happen.
How Many Guests Can Mas de Sant Lleí Host?
Mas de Sant Lleí is built for large weddings: the two banquet halls open into one, and the Bosque de las Encinas adds an outdoor banquet option. Capacity depends on the space and the layout you choose, so the events team confirms the exact number for your plan when you visit. Mireia and Pol’s wedding here was a mid sized celebration.
Where this comes from: the ceremony spaces and what the price includes were confirmed by the venue’s own team in October 2026. The experience and the timing are from the wedding I photographed here.
What Is the Catering Like at Mas de Sant Lleí?
Mas de Sant Lleí has its own kitchen, and the menu is built around you. The kitchen offers a wide range of options and real flexibility: it adapts to allergies, intolerances and any changes you want to make.
Couples who come from abroad often add a nod to their home country, in the aperitif, during the party or in the banquet itself, and the kitchen makes it happen. On its wedding listing the venue publishes menus from 145 to 215 euros per guest, and that price covers far more than the food, as you will see below. If your two families eat very differently, this is a kitchen that will meet them halfway.
What Is Included in a Mas de Sant Lleí Wedding?
Mas de Sant Lleí is not a venue rental: the price per guest covers the whole wedding. Here is what the venue includes:
- The food, from the aperitif to the banquet, from the estate’s own kitchen
- The whole team with you on the day, including a wedding planner
- The tasting before the wedding
- The setup, including the ceremony setup
- Floral decoration for the tables
- Printed menus and place cards
If you want to add anything else, you can bring it in. Ask the team to confirm two things in writing: what time the music has to stop, and whether the quote includes VAT.
What Are My Insider Tips for a Mas de Sant Lleí Wedding?
My biggest tip for Mas de Sant Lleí is to build the day around the late light, not the clock: the gardens and the lake give their best in the last hours of the day, so time the ceremony so the cocktail hour by the lake lands in the golden hour.
Choose your ceremony space with the light in mind. The four ceremony settings do not get the same evening light. On the Terraza de los Magnolios, where Mireia and Pol married, the sun stays until late, which is why the golden light lasted so long that day. Ask your photographer to plan the timing for the space you choose.
Work with the trees, do not fight them. Under the canopy the midday light is dappled and contrasty, and late in the afternoon it turns soft and glowing. Hold the ceremony late enough that portraits by the lake fall in the last hour of sun.
Scale your decor to the halls. Sant Esteve and Santa Justa are large, high rooms, and the venue already includes floral decoration for the tables, so put any extra budget into one or two statement pieces rather than many small arrangements.
Plan the rain version on purpose. Agree with the team where the ceremony and dinner move if the weather turns, so a summer storm is a detail and not a crisis.
Sort the logistics early. There is no accommodation on site, so block hotels in Granollers or Barcelona and plan a shuttle for the end of the night.
Use the tasting. The kitchen adapts to allergies, intolerances and changes, and can bring dishes from your home country into the menu, so the tasting is where you shape the biggest part of your guests’ experience.
Where Do Wedding Guests Stay Near Mas de Sant Lleí?
There is no accommodation at Mas de Sant Lleí, so guests stay in Granollers, about ten minutes away, or in Barcelona, around twenty minutes down the AP-7.
Granollers is the practical base, close and full of hotels, while Barcelona turns the wedding into a proper weekend for guests who want the city. Block a hotel early if your date falls between May and September, and plan a shuttle back at the end of the night so nobody is hunting for a taxi on a country road. If you are weighing nearby estates too, they are all in my guide to the best wedding venues near Barcelona.
What Did a Real Wedding at Mas de Sant Lleí Look Like?
Mireia and Pol got married at Mas de Sant Lleí in July 2026, and I photographed the whole day, from the ceremony on the Terraza de los Magnolios to the party in the halls.
The day followed the estate’s natural flow: the ceremony in the afternoon, the cocktail hour out on the terraces and gardens by the lake, dinner inside the halls, and the party running late into the night. High summer meant real heat in the middle of the day and beautiful, soft light once the sun dropped. On the Terraza de los Magnolios the sun stays until late, which is why the late afternoon light was so good.
The one thing I would tell the next couple is to lean into that late light. The gardens and the lake give their best in the last hours of the day, so the later your ceremony sits, the more the estate does the work for you.
What Should Your Mas de Sant Lleí Photographer Know?
A photographer at Mas de Sant Lleí has to read two very different kinds of light: the dappled, high contrast shade under the trees, and the wide open golden light on the terraces and the lake late in the day. Midday under the canopy is beautiful but tricky, with hard patches of sun coming through.
Late afternoon is where this estate turns magic: the low sun rakes across the gardens, the lake picks up the colour, and the halls and old walls glow at blue hour. Each of the four ceremony spaces gets a different evening light, so confirm your space early and time the day around it. Plan the portraits for the last hour of light, by the lake and among the trees, and keep a few minutes after sunset for the estate itself.
If you are still looking, this is the kind of place where a Barcelona wedding photographer who already knows how the light behaves here makes a real difference.
