Jordi Dalmau

The photographer behind Dalmare

Jordi Dalmau is a luxury wedding photographer based on the Costa Brava, Spain, working across Catalonia, Mallorca and Europe under the studio name Dalmare. His editorial, unposed style has been featured in The Wed, Carats and Cake, Wezoree and Hola.

That’s the official version. Here’s mine. Before weddings I was a graphic designer, and that background still runs everything I do behind the camera. Composition, negative space, how a frame is built: I look at a wedding day the way I used to look at a layout. That eye is why my photos read editorial even though almost nothing in them is posed.

I’ve been photographing weddings for more than five years, over 120 of them by now. My approach is artistic minimalism at its core. I don’t direct your day, I anticipate with a lot of pre-planning so I’m confident I photograph with intention, and know I’ll match my clients vibes.

I work in English, Spanish and Catalan, and most of my couples are international, planning a wedding in Spain from abroad. Half of my job is the photos. The other half is making sure you feel calm and looked after on a day when everything is new.

Press and features

My work has appeared in a few places I’m proud of. The Wed published a full wedding weekend I photographed among the vineyards of Finca Bell-lloc, here on the Costa Brava. I’m listed on Carats & Cake as a wedding photographer in Spain. My photos have also been featured by Wezoree, in an editorial on Wed Vibes and in the wedding pages of Hola.

Where I work

I’m based on the Costa Brava and photograph weddings across Catalonia, Mallorca, the rest of Spain and Europe. Most of my season happens between the coves of the Costa Brava, the city and masias around Barcelona, and the island of Mallorca.

If you’re still looking for your venue, start with my guides to the best Costa Brava wedding venues, Barcelona wedding venues and wedding venues in Spain. I’ve photographed in most of them, so if you want an honest opinion on any of them, just ask.

What couples say

I hold a 5.0 rating from 32 reviews on Google. The one that stays with me is Lidia’s: “He didn’t just capture moments, he captured emotions.” You can see her autumn wedding at Molí de la Torre here.
