Summer Wedding in Hotel Font de la Canya
Anaïs and Oriol got married on June 20, 2026 at Hotel Font de la Canya, a boutique wedding venue surrounded by vineyards in the Penedès, less than an hour from Barcelona. A church ceremony at Sant Francesc d’Assís in Vilafranca del Penedès, a white Rolls-Royce, 140 guests and a Mediterranean summer party under the palm trees. I photographed the whole day, and this is their story.
Desires
Elegant, natural and close. That was the brief: a summer wedding with a Mediterranean, almost Tuscan feel, and good vibes above everything else.
Anaïs and Oriol both come from marketing and design, and it showed. They designed every single piece themselves in Illustrator: editorial typography on the stationery with playful handwritten cross-outs on the menu, terracotta and warm tones in the flowers and linens, and a seating plan built around their favorite moments together. Australia, where their story began, was hiding everywhere if you knew where to look (the church booklets, two koalas on top of the cake, and a donation to restore corals in the Great Barrier Reef as their guest favor). Galicia, their second home, showed up as a pulpeiro serving octopus in the middle of the Penedès.
They wanted a wedding that was carefully designed but never stiff. Everyone should eat well, laugh hard and dance until the very end.
Solutions
From our first call they were clear: documentary photography, no forced poses, real moments. My job was to design the day so those moments could actually happen.
With Amaré Studio I worked on a timeline that protected what mattered: the letters and gifts during the preparations, a first look with her father at the foot of the staircase, a quick exit from the church so the confetti (and the firecrackers) caught everyone at their happiest, and their vows read in private on the terrace before joining the cocktail. Instead of one long session away from their own party, I split it into two short ones: a few minutes on arrival and a few more at golden hour, with the sun setting over the vineyards. Twelve hours of coverage, plus a few rolls of analog film.
Results
Uri cried three times before dinner even started. Reading Anaïs’s letter on the terrace. Seeing her walk into the church. And once more during their private vows. I have all three, and nobody had to pose for any of them.
The rest of the day speaks for itself: the confetti exit from Sant Francesc d’Assís, Anaïs holding her bouquet up from the Rolls-Royce on an open road, the window-cleaner shots landing on every table (ask Uri about that story), her calla lily bouquet ending the night in her grandmother’s hands, and a dance floor that never slowed down. CO2 cannon included.

What made you choose Hotel Font de la Canya as your wedding venue?
“We visited a thousand places, but when we arrived at Font de la Canya we just knew. The views, the calm, the party outdoors… and it was still a little unknown, with its own hotel.”
How did you choose your wedding looks?
“I wanted to go as classic as possible: dark suit, matching waistcoat and none of those groom suits, they feel like a costume to me.” (Uri)
“I wanted something simple but elegant, and different from what I had already seen. I loved that it was two pieces, and that I could wear the corset again on an anniversary. When I found this dress, it was the perfect balance.” (Anaïs, in Rosa Clará with Pedro Miralles shoes)
What were your favorite moments of the day?
“The speeches: Uri’s mother at the church and Anaïs’s sister at dinner. The church exit with the firecrackers. How high the energy was during the whole banquet. And ending the night in a circle with all our friends, singing.”
How do you remember the day now?
“It was the most incredible day of our lives.”

What do you wish you had known before you started planning?
“That hiring a good wedding planner from the very beginning is not a bad idea.”
What would you tell the next couples getting married?
“Enjoy it. Some things will go wrong for sure, but you will probably be the only ones who know.”
And how do you choose the right wedding photographer?
“Make sure you love their style and feel completely comfortable with them.”
