A Three-Day Wedding at Finca Bell-Lloc
Written by Jordi Dalmau, Spain destination wedding photographer. Last update July 2026
Storm and Jan-Willem got married on September 6, 2025 at Finca Bell-Lloc, a stone masia surrounded by vineyards and umbrella pines near Llafranc, on the Costa Brava. She is American, he is Dutch, they live in Amsterdam, and they turned their wedding into a three-day party for 180 of the people they love most. A ceremony under the trees, dinner beneath the fig canopy, a surprise Brazilian dance and a party that ran into the early hours. I photographed all of it, and this is their story.
Desires
Storm and Jan-Willem had one idea above all others: they wanted the best weekend of their lives, and they wanted their guests to walk away thinking ‘wow, this is what a wedding can be.’ Cool, out of the ordinary, beautifully detailed, but never stiff. A great summer party, essentially, with them at the center of it.
They chose Llafranc for a reason. It is where Jan-Willem’s family has spent their summers for years, and they love the sea, the pine trees and the relaxed Catalan pace of it. Finca Bell-Lloc was an immediate yes: everything could happen in one place, and every corner had its own magic. The vineyard, the trees where they would have dinner, the upper terrace over the hills, and the lower terrace with the dance floor.
Their style ran through every detail. Storm, who is not a girly bride, found her dress at Cortana, a Mallorcan brand, and paired it with a 100-year-old veil from San Francisco, the city where she grew up. Jan-Willem wore a classic morning suit and later a white dinner jacket made in Amsterdam, with lapel pins Storm bought for all the men in the family. Nothing was ordinary, and nothing was overdone.
Solutions
From our first conversation they were clear about the photos: non-posed, effortlessly cool, modern. ‘I want them to be us.’ My job was to build the day so those real moments could actually happen, and so Storm could have the handful of magazine-cover images she was dreaming of without ever feeling like she was posing for them.
We planned a first look with her father instead of with Jan-Willem, which gave us one of the most honest moments of the morning. For the couple session I did not pull them away from their own party for an hour. I split it into short windows and saved the best one for golden hour, when the light drops behind the hills and everything turns to gold. The ceremony itself was theirs: they read their own vows, and they had everyone sing a song together to pull the whole room into that relaxed Spanish vibe.

Then the party began, and it did not stop for three days.
Dinner happened under the fig trees, with string lights and Iolanda Bustos’s food, on tables Storm had designed down to the hand-drawn menus. There were speeches and performances that only this family could pull off: Jan-Willem’s father playing, his sister singing beside him, a groomsman’s completely absurd ukulele act. Then the surprise nobody saw coming, Storm and her father breaking into a Brazilian dance while she spun in a golden dress handmade in Brazil. The band played, the cake was cut under sparklers, and the DJ carried everyone through to the early hours.
The next day everyone met at the beach, sandy and happy, to do it one more time. Because that was the whole point: the weekend Storm’s friends and Jan-Willem’s friends finally became one.
In their words
What made you choose Finca Bell-Lloc for your wedding?
“Llafranc is a place where the Winckel family has their holiday home and we absolutely love it there. The sea, the trees, the food and the relaxed Catalonian vibe. Bell-Lloc was an immediate bullseye. Everything could happen on one location, but also each area had its own magical element.”
Tell us about your outfits.
“I am not a very girly girl, so I really wanted my wedding look to be cool. Something I could even wear later in life. My dress is from Cortana, a Spanish brand from Mallorca, so it gave me the chic island feel I love. The veil is a very cool vintage one, 100 years old, from San Francisco, which is where I spent the beginning of my childhood.” (Storm)
“For Saturday I wore a morning suit, a classic attire that all of my relatives have worn on their wedding day. Then the outfit change led to a white dinner jacket made for me by a very cool small shop in Amsterdam. Storm bought these very cool pins for us to wear on our lapels, all the family men wore them.” (Jan-Willem)
What did this wedding mean to you?
“For us, this was the best weekend of our lives. Our friends and family had never been in one place at the same time, because we grew up in different parts of the world. Our wedding was the moment Storm’s friends became friends with Jan-Willem’s friends, one last fiesta of the summer.”
What were your favorite moments of the day?
“Reading our vows to each other during the ceremony, the speeches and performances during dinner, and the amazing party.”
Their advice
Your top tip for the next couples getting married?
“Do things your way and be original. People always like to remember special things they’ve seen at a wedding that they’ve never seen before. Also, things are going to not go according to plan. But that makes it fun and real.”
One thing you wish you knew before you started planning?
“You can’t invite everyone, and that’s totally OK.”
A memorable moment couples should not skip?
“I loved it when Jan-Willem would look at me during our ceremony. They were very small moments, but it made me feel so warm inside.” (Storm)
