Best Costa Brava Wedding Venues: A Photographer's Pick

Written by Jordi Dalmau, Spain destination wedding photographer. Last update October 2026

The Costa Brava has some of the best wedding venues in Catalonia, from cliffside gardens over the sea to private 14th-century estates you rent for the whole weekend. These are my favourite nine, all venues I have photographed as a Costa Brava wedding photographer, each for a different kind of couple and all within about an hour or two of Barcelona. I also work as a photographer for weddings in Spain beyond the Costa Brava, from Mallorca to Seville.

Looking beyond Catalonia? I also keep a full guide to the best wedding venues in Spain, with real prices and capacities.

Getting married near the city? See my guide to the best wedding venues in Barcelona.

What are the best wedding venues on the Costa Brava?

The best Costa Brava wedding venues range from five-star coastal hotels like Hostal de La Gavina to private estates like Mas Torroella and Mas de les Voltes that you rent just for yourselves. The right one depends on your style, your guest count, and whether you want everyone staying on-site.

I have photographed weddings at all nine below, so this is not a list I copied from somewhere. After them I add one more that is on my radar, and I say clearly that I have not shot there yet. It is what I would actually tell a couple over a coffee. I have kept each one short here, with a link to the full guide if you want the deep dive on spaces, capacity and prices.

A quick note on the order: there isn’t one. These are not ranked best to worst, they are nine different answers to nine different visions. Read them as “which one is me,” not “which one is number one.”

1. Hostal de La Gavina, S'Agaró

Hostal de La Gavina is a five-star Relais & Châteaux hotel right on the coast at S’Agaró, with capacity for up to 300 guests and 76 rooms so your people can stay on-site. Packages start around €350 per person, and it does legal civil ceremonies in the gardens.

This is old-school coastal glamour, the kind of place with real history and polish. If you want a classic, full-service luxury hotel wedding where guests never have to leave, this is the one.

Best for: classic five-star glamour with everyone staying over.

2. Casa Santa Clotilde, Lloret de Mar

Casa Santa Clotilde sits on a cliff in Lloret de Mar, about an hour north of Barcelona, with Italian Renaissance gardens that cascade down toward the Mediterranean. The Cypress Square holds up to 250 guests with the sea as your backdrop.

Honestly, it is one of the most visually striking venues on the whole coast. Geometric stone paths, cypress trees, classical sculptures, and that drop to the sea. If you care about a setting that makes people gasp when they walk in, start here.

Best for: couples who want a dramatic, design-led garden over the sea.

3. El Convent de Blanes

El Convent de Blanes is a restored convent above Blanes with Mediterranean views, hosting weddings from 65 to 220 guests, with celebrations running until 3 to 5am. The catering is by Jubany, one of the best names in Catalan cuisine.

So this is the pick if food matters to you as much as the view, and for a lot of couples it should. You get history, the sea, and a genuinely serious kitchen, which is a rare combination.

Best for: couples who want history, sea views and top-level gastronomy.

4. Mas Torroella, Palafrugell

Mas Torroella is a private 14th-century estate near Palafrugell that you rent for exclusive use, for up to around 250 guests, with room for about 30 to sleep on-site. It is open-vendor, so you bring your own caterer and suppliers.

This is for the couple who wants a multi-day estate weekend rather than a one-night event, with full freedom over how the day looks. It takes more planning, but you get a wedding that feels completely yours.

Best for: a private, multi-day estate with full vendor freedom.

5. Mas de les Voltes, Empordà

Mas de les Voltes is an exclusive-use estate set among vineyards in the Empordà, rented as a full private weekend, with only 10 to 15 weddings a year. It has been featured in Vogue.

This is the top of the range for privacy and design. You are not sharing it with anyone, the setting among the vines is stunning, and it photographs beautifully. If budget is not the deciding factor and exclusivity is, this is the one.

Best for: ultra-private, design-led couples who want total exclusivity.

6. Molí de la Torre, Empordà

Molí de la Torre is a restored 19th-century mill in the Empordà countryside, a neoclassical estate that once drew Salvador Dalí himself. It mixes rustic character with modern comfort, out in the quiet of the Costa Brava interior.

This is the arty, characterful option. It has a personality that the polished hotels do not, and it suits couples who want something a bit more relaxed and creative, with great light and real texture for the photos.

Best for: arty, relaxed couples who want character over polish.

7. Castell d'Empordà, La Bisbal d'Empordà

Castell d’Empordà is a medieval castle hotel on a hill near La Bisbal, looking out over the Empordà valley and its vineyards, with on-site rooms for up to 34 guests. The staff work in English, Spanish and Catalan, and the packages are built for couples coming from abroad.

This is the fairy-tale option, and I mean that in the best way. Centuries-old stone, panoramic views, and the comfort of a proper hotel, so your closest people sleep in the castle and nobody has to drive home. If a medieval castle is the dream, this is where you start.

Best for: a fairy-tale medieval castle with guests staying on-site.

8. La Farinera Sant Lluís, Alt Empordà

La Farinera Sant Lluís is a protected 1913 flour mill in the Alt Empordà, five minutes from Figueres, where every hall is named after the milling machine that once filled it and the ceremony happens on a pier over a private lake. You rent the whole estate for the weekend, with rooms for guests on-site, for up to around 220 seated. Full La Farinera Sant Lluís guide.

9. Hotel El Far de Sant Sebastià, Llafranc

Hotel El Far de Sant Sebastià is a nine-room hotel and restaurant beside the lighthouse on the cape above Llafranc, near Palafrugell, which closes to the public for one wedding a day and hosts from 40 to 186 guests.

I have photographed two weddings here, and the terrace hanging over the Mediterranean is the reason couples book it. Catering comes only from the hotel’s own kitchen, and its bodas.net listing gives €159 to €204 per guest with the aperitif, dinner and open bar. All nine rooms are booked for the wedding night, and the municipal hermitage next door seats 60 to 70 for a religious ceremony.

Best for: a clifftop wedding over the sea with the whole hotel to yourselves.

Keep in mind: the sun sets inland, behind the hotel, so the terrace is in shade for the cocktail and the best late light is on the esplanade and the lookout over Llafranc. From June to September the road up is restricted, so plan a coach for your guests.

On my radar: Mas Terrats, Pontós

A 17th-century farmhouse in Pontós, in the Alt Empordà, ten minutes from Figueres and twenty from Girona, on nearly 100 hectares of olive trees, woods and gardens, rented for the whole weekend with nine suites on site.

This is the one venue here I have not photographed yet, so everything in this paragraph comes from the venue itself. The house is let from Friday to Sunday by default, with a pool, gardens and a multipurpose pavilion among the olive trees for the celebration, and the price is quoted per stay depending on the date, the number of nights and the season. It does not publish a wedding capacity, so ask for your number.

Best for: a whole-weekend house party in the Empordà countryside, with your inner circle sleeping in.

Keep in mind: nine suites is room for your closest people, not for every guest: book hotels in Figueres or Girona for the rest.

Which private villas on the Costa Brava host weddings?

Five estates on the Costa Brava rent like a private villa for the whole wedding weekend, with your closest people sleeping on site: Mas Torroella, Mas de les Voltes, La Farinera Sant Lluís, Molí de la Torre and Mas Terrats.

The largest are Mas Torroella, a 14th-century estate near Palafrugell for up to around 250 guests that sleeps about 30, and Molí de la Torre, an 1800s mill near Figueres for 50 to 250 guests. La Farinera Sant Lluís takes around 220 seated with rooms on site, Mas de les Voltes sleeps about 20 in total privacy among its vineyards, and Mas Terrats has nine suites in Pontós. All five are in the province of Girona, roughly an hour and a half from Barcelona and about 40 minutes from Girona airport. Renting a whole estate usually leaves more of the day for you to build, so a local planner is worth it here.

Where is the Costa Brava, and why get married there?

The Costa Brava is the stretch of Catalan coastline north of Barcelona, running from Blanes up to the French border, and it is one of the best wedding regions in Spain. You get coves, medieval villages, vineyards and cliffs, all within about an hour to ninety minutes of Barcelona. For towns, beaches and coves to plan your guests’ stay, the official Costa Brava tourism site is the best place to start.

For couples coming from abroad, that mix is hard to beat. It feels properly Mediterranean and a little secret, but it is genuinely easy to reach, with Girona airport close by and Barcelona handling the long-haul flights. Most of the venues here also sit in or near pretty towns, so your guests get a holiday, not just a wedding.

How much do Costa Brava wedding venues cost?

Costa Brava wedding venues range widely. Hotel packages like Hostal de La Gavina start around €350 per person, Convent de Blanes catering starts around €131 per person plus venue fees, and fully private estates like Mas de les Voltes are quoted per weekend.

As a rough guide, a Costa Brava wedding at this level usually lands somewhere between €25,000 and well over €100,000 once you add catering, planning, flowers and the rest. The venue is only one line of the budget, so it is worth pricing the whole thing, not just the rental.

How far are these venues from Barcelona?

Most Costa Brava wedding venues are about one to one and a half hours from Barcelona by car. The coastal ones near S’Agaró and Lloret de Mar are closer to an hour, while the Empordà estates inland are around ninety minutes.

That closeness is part of why the region works so well for destination weddings near Barcelona. Guests can fly into Barcelona, spend a night or two in the city, drive up the coast for the wedding, and spend a couple extra days here, where the views are better.

Do you need a wedding planner for a Costa Brava wedding?

For a destination wedding on the Costa Brava, a local planner is strongly recommended, and for the private estates it is close to essential. The exclusive-use venues like Mas Torroella and Mas de les Voltes are open-vendor, which means you build the whole day with your own suppliers, and a good planner is what makes that run smoothly across a language barrier.
