Photography that feels like you, not a performance
I’m Jordi Dalmau, an editorial and documentary wedding photographer based in Barcelona, shooting weddings across the city, the Costa Brava and the whole of Spain. I come from graphic design, so I see a wedding through a clean, intentional eye: less noise, more meaning. I don’t stage moments and I don’t run couples through a shot list I repeat at every wedding. I plan carefully, I pay attention, and then I let the day happen and photograph it as it really is.
Everything is decided before the day begins
I photograph weddings the way a designer works: with intention, and nothing left to chance. I spent years in graphic design before I ever shot a wedding, and that way of thinking never left me. I don’t chase moments at random. I plan for them.
Most of my work happens before your wedding, not on it. From our first conversation I start building the coverage around you: how you want the day to feel, the people and moments that matter most, and the mood you want the final images to carry. I listen for the details other photographers skip, and I ask the questions that shape everything later.
Then I map the day, hour by hour. I think through what could happen, where the light will fall, the small moments that usually get lost in the rush, and how we can make each one better. If something needs adjusting, we adjust it long before you’re standing at the altar.
By the time your wedding arrives, the plan is done. You don’t have to think about the photos, or about me, or about whether we’re getting the shot. You live your day, fully present, and I capture it exactly as we designed it. To me, that is what luxury really means: not a longer shot list, but an experience built entirely around you, from minute one.
SO...
What this means for you
01/
A day with nothing to manage. Because we plan everything in advance, you're never pulled aside to organize photos. You stay inside your own wedding.
02/
Images that feel like you. Editorial and unposed, shaped around your vibe, not a template.
03/
One person who actually knows your day. I'm the one you plan with and the one who shows up. Nothing gets lost in a handover.
04/
Details with personal meaning. Not just pretty rings on pretty surfaces, but details that tell your story, arranged in ways that reference your history together.
05/
A calm presence when it matters. I read the moment and stay out of the way. Most of my favorite images happen when no one remembers I'm there.

How can we work together
FIRST CONVERSATION
We will start with a chat to see if we are a good fit; No reservations are made without a prior meeting. If I feel like we’re not the right match, don’t worry, I’ll be happy to refer you to colleagues whose style may be a better fit for your vision.
PERFECT THE DETAILS
If I feel like we’re a good fit, I’ll put together a bespoke proposal, personalized to your wedding needs, making sure your every wish is covered with everything you need and nothing you don’t. You are ready to move forward here!
PRE WEDDING PLANNING
This is where the real work happens. We align on style and priorities, I study your venue and timeline, and I anticipate the moments and the light so nothing on the day is improvised. Send me references and ideas if you have them. A clear process means easier for everyone.
THE DAY
I move quietly and read the room. My team and I know the plan and the venue, so we’re never asking you for direction. You feel present, not photographed.
YOUR GALLERY
A curated edit that looks and feels like your wedding, delivered in six to eight weeks. Albums, prints and fine art collections are available afterward if you want something to hold.

Planning from abroad
Most of my couples are international, many from the United States, planning a Spanish wedding from thousands of miles away. The whole experience is built for that: video calls instead of meetings, clear steps, and a plan you can trust without being here to manage it. I’m based between Barcelona and the Costa Brava and I photograph weddings across Spain, from Mallorca and Ibiza to Madrid, Seville and the Basque Country. Wherever your venue is, I’ll come, and travel within Catalonia is always included.
IN THEIR WORDS
/JORGE & ADRI
"Skilled photographer with a unique style"
We have only positive words to describe Jordi’s work at our wedding and rehearsal in Costa Brava. We also did an additional shoot in Barcelona which we loved. Jordi is super talented and I’d recommend him to anyone who wants a skilled photographer with a unique style. He’s also easy going and a very close person to work with.

"Like a Vogue photoshoot"
When I was looking for a photographer for our wedding, I stumbled upon Dalmare’s Instagram and instantly fell in love with Jordi’s work. We had a few calls, and he was meticulous about every single detail. He really listened to our request for a mix of editorial and documentary photos. He has a unique ability to capture moments no one else would see. I’m looking at his photos of our wedding now, and they feel warm and romantic and aesthetically beautiful. We honestly look like we did a Vogue photoshoot.

Even better than we could have imagined
Jordi provided the most perfect experience for us on our wedding day. We had three meetings ahead of the day so we were aligned on the vision, and the final photos turned out even better than we could have imagined. On the wedding day, Jordi and his team were perfectly coordinated and didn’t rely on us for any information. They knew the venue from a previous visit and positioned themselves to capture our moments from every angle.
the creative behind
Meet Jordi
I grew up in the Empordà, in the north of Catalonia, surrounded by nature, light, and the kind of quiet beauty you only notice if you slow down. I trained and worked as a graphic designer, and for years my world was composition, restraint, and intention. When I started photographing weddings, those two worlds came together. The images I cared about weren’t the posed, obvious ones. They were the real, in-between moments, seen with a designer’s eye. That’s the work I do now, and I wouldn’t trade it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's your photography style?
Editorial and documentary. Minimal, unposed, and intentional. I capture real moments and emotion as they happen, so your images feel like you and not like a performance.
Do you photograph weddings outside Barcelona?
Yes. I’m based between Barcelona and the Costa Brava and I photograph weddings across Spain, from Mallorca and Ibiza to Madrid, Seville and the Basque Country. Wherever your venue is, I’ll come.
Do you work with international couples?
Most of my couples are international, many from the US, planning from abroad. I speak fluent English and the whole experience is built for remote planning: video calls, clear steps, and no surprises.
How do you keep the wedding day feeling relaxed?
Because the work is already done. We plan everything in advance, so on the day you don’t have to think about the photos. You stay present, and I stay out of the way while I capture it.
Do I need a second photographer?
Most photographers answer this with a guest count. I don’t, because I have never found that to be the thing that matters. Two things do.
The first is logistics. With two of us we can photograph both of you getting ready at the same time, and someone is always free for the things you spent months choosing: the flowers, the table setting, the ceremony before anyone sits down, the dress, the jewellery. With one photographer those details get whatever minutes are left over.
The second is creative freedom, and it is the one I care about more. Working alone I have to stay close to you almost the entire day, because the moment I look away is the moment someone throws you in the air. A second photographer holds that continuity, which frees me to go and find the quieter pictures nobody notices are there.
So the useful questions are whether you are getting ready in different places, and how much the details matter to you. Not how many people are coming.
When will we get our photos?
A curated gallery in six to eight weeks, with albums and prints available afterward.
How far ahead should we book?
For May to October, 12 to 18 months is ideal since peak Saturdays fill quickly. I take a limited number of weddings a year, so if your date is set, reach out early.
What do your wedding collections include and cost?
Every wedding is quoted individually, but my collections start from 3,000 euros for full-day coverage by me. Each proposal is built around your day, with albums, extra hours and a second photographer available as add-ons.
How many hours of wedding photography do I need?
Most of the weddings I photograph run ten to twelve hours, from getting ready to the first hours of the party. Eight is enough if your ceremony and dinner are close together and you are happy to let the dance floor go undocumented.
If your guests are travelling from the US, keep in mind that a Spanish wedding starts later and ends much later than you are used to. The best hour of the night is often well past midnight.
Should I hire a local photographer or fly my own from home?
Both work, and I will be honest about when each one makes sense.
Bring your own if the relationship matters more to you than local knowledge, and you are happy to cover flights and accommodation. Hire locally if you want someone who already knows how the light falls at your venue in September, who speaks to your suppliers in their own language, and whose travel is not a line on your budget.
Are travel expenses included?
Within Catalonia, yes. They are already in the fee.
For weddings further afield, travel and accommodation are built into the proposal I send you, so the number you see is the number you pay. Nothing appears later.
Do you deliver RAW files?
No, and I would say the same about any photographer worth hiring. The editing is not a filter applied at the end, it is half of what you are paying for. You receive every image I would put my name on, edited and ready to print.
Do you also film weddings?
No. I photograph, only. It is a deliberate choice: doing one thing properly beats doing two things at once.
When a couple wants both, I am glad to recommend videographers I have worked alongside and trust with your day.
What happens if it rains?
We look at your venue’s plan B long before the day, not on the morning. Some venues have a covered alternative built in and some do not, and knowing which yours is changes what you should book.
Beyond that, rain makes some of the best photographs of the whole day. It is not something I am afraid of.
